Enjoy every moment, not just the sunny ones...
Here we are, in the middle of an arctic winter that seems endlessly white. In Denver, we are not very used to these long, cold spells. We have snow, but then we have sun and it all goes away. Currently, there is an iceberg in my front yard.
Life can be like that too- sometimes we get stuck in the long, snowy, cold spells and they seem to stretch on endlessly. More snow comes your way- maybe a blizzard of snow, and some ice for good measure. However, there is beauty in the breakdown.
Even in the depth of winter there is glittering snow, there are cozy fires, there are crisp, silent nights. We start the winter season with so many holidays, but we end it with quiet. Such is life - in the middle of a mental health crisis, a social crisis, a family crisis - there is beauty. There are supportive loved ones, there is laughter, there is hope, and there is help. Too often we see the darkness in winter, and in our own lives, and long for the long sunny days of summer. Enjoy every moment, not just the sunny ones. And, if you can't find that joy- reach out- winter is a time for cozy togetherness.
If you, or someone you know, are suffering through a rough winter right now- reach out. Call the Colorado Crisis Services at 1-844-493-8255, text “TALK“ to 38255, or visit their website to chat online at https://coloradocrisisservices.org/.
